Considering the high statistics of addiction relapse and the resulting personal, family, social and economic damages, it is necessary to identify the factors affecting addiction relapse in order to prevent and treat it. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of Alexithymia and perceived social support in predicting the relapse of substance abuse among addicts in de-addiction camps.
The current research is descriptive research of the correlation type. In order to carry out this research, 168 people were selected using random cluster sampling from de-addiction camps in Qom province and completed the Toronto-20 Alexithymia Scale, the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and the Addiction Relapse Prediction Scale. Data analysis was done using stepwise multiple regression analysis and SPSS software.
According to the results, at least one of the predictor variables has a significant predictive effect. From among predictor variables, The time interval since the last use, difficulty in recognizing emotions, the time interval between last use and relapse, and the support of important people and the support of friends have a significant predictive effect on the adjusted index of substance abuse relapse, and these variables together describe 21% of the variance of substance abuse relapse.
According to the findings of the research, it can be said that just as there is not only one effective factor for a person to return to addiction and a set of individual, family, and social factors with different ratios cause relapse, so for the prevention and treatment of addiction relapse, multidimensional programs and interventions must be designed and implemented to achieve good results. |
